Orange Beach, Alabama Guide And Information

Orange Beach, Alabama is one of those well-kept vacation secrets that not many people know about, but which is getting set to burst alive in the American consciousness.  In fact, Bama Bayou is a $300 million construction project that, when finished, will place the South's premier resort right in Orange Beach, at the Intracoastal Waterway.  This resort promises to recreate the charm and the legacy of one of those old coastal villages.  It will blend the past with every sort of amenity you could want in a resort.  In short, everything associated with Bama Bayou is meant to take visitors back to another, more laid-back time.

But you don't have to wait for this development to be completed.  Orange Beach already hosts many things that tourists will find of interest.
There is, of course, the beach, which offers recreation at the ocean front, which unlike many other beaches, is not too crowded to enjoy.

When you get done at the beach, you can head over to Adventure Island. This is a lively place for the whole family that features alligators, pirates, prehistoric wetlands, and volcanoes.  Located on Perdido Beach Blvd., this amazing destination hosts the only active volcano on the Gulf Coast.  Almost every visitor is able to witness the volcano coming alive with its power, vibrations, steam and boiling water.

You'll also enjoy the Indian & Sea Museum.  This educational spot showcases early settlement and exploration of the area and is dedicated to preserving sea and Indiana history on the Gulf Coast.  For more information, call 251-981-2766.  Not far away is the Southern Breeze Coastal Wine tour at Waterfront park, which has daily tours. Call 800-239-9880 for details.

But perhaps what Orange Beach is best known for is sailing  and sailing tours.  There are numerous ways to enjoy being out on the water. Some of these include:

• Gateway Charters invites visitors to book a private trip for their entire family or group.  As they cruise the beaches of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, they can see the dolphins, or fish for Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, red-fish or red snapper.  Half-day and full-day trips are available all year long.  There are near-shore or off-shore trips available.  Call 251-974-0274 for information.

• Sailaway Charters offers sailing trips, oystering, dolphin watching, crabbing, and shrimping trips.  For more details, call them at 251-974-5055 or visit them on the Web at http://geocities.com/sailorskip.

• Lost Bay Regatta hosts the Alabama Gulf Coast's biggest sailing event.  Beginning at Perdido Bay's main, the race is held at the Point Yacht Club found on pirate's Cove Marina.  Any monohull sailboat 20 feet or longer is eligible.  For more information, call 251-948-9313.

• Reel Surprise Charters offers  fishing trip that is customized to your own desires, for maximum fishing pleasure and enjoyment.  They specialize in helping first-time fishers, and they welcome entire families and children.

Without question, the people that Orange Beach is trying to welcome are those who are fans of nature. And those nature lovers will find much to enjoy in this part of Alabama.
